Party Trustworthiness Scorecard
Evidence-based assessment of each party's consistency, honesty, competence, and transparency. Every grade is backed by documented evidence. This tool helps voters make informed decisions — it does not recommend who to vote for.
Fidesz-KDNP
2010-2026 (Government) DD Promise Keeping
Anti-corruption pledge spectacularly broken: EU most corrupt 3 consecutive years. Utility cuts delivered but unsustainable. Family spending massive but fertility at record low 1.30. Healthcare spending gap widened. Press freedom rank fell 23rd to 68th.
F Honesty
State media monopoly spreads government narratives unchallenged. Independent media destroyed (Index, Origo captured). "Stop Brussels" campaigns based on false premises. Soros conspiracy narrative contradicts facts.
F Integrity
Mészáros oligarch enrichment (€1.2B EU-funded contracts, 83% EU money). Tiborcz/Elios (56% overpriced, OLAF €40M repayment). Orbán family wealth explosion. No domestic prosecutions despite EU findings.
C Competence
GDP growth above EU average (2014-2019). Low unemployment. But: highest inflation in EU (2022-23). Brain drain (600K+ emigrated). Healthcare system collapse. Education spending lowest in EU.
F Accountability
Pegasus spying on journalists/opposition. KESMA media capture (~500 outlets). Constitutional Court packed. Electoral system redrawn. EU Art. 7 proceedings. €20B EU funds withheld for rule-of-law violations.
F Fairness to Opponents
Opposition described as "foreign agents," "Soros network," "traitors." Government-controlled media runs campaigns against opposition candidates. Pegasus surveillance of journalists covering opposition.
Mi Hazánk
2022-2026 DNA Promise Keeping
Parliamentary party since 2022 (6 seats). Opposition — limited delivery expectations. Promotes anti-immigration, anti-LGBT, pro-Russia positions.
D Honesty
Promotes anti-vaccination conspiracy theories. Climate denial. Anti-Roma rhetoric. Multiple statements contradicted by scientific consensus and official statistics.
NA Integrity
Small party, limited financial transparency data. No major corruption scandals documented. Leader Toroczkai is former Jobbik member.
D Competence
Flagship proposals legally impossible (death penalty violates ECHR Protocol 13, Transcarpathia claim violates UN Charter). Anti-vaccination campaign contradicted EMA/FDA data, contributed to vaccine hesitancy. Dawn Program economic proposals vague with no fiscal modeling.
D Accountability
Promotes illiberal positions (anti-LGBT rights, anti-immigration). Paramilitary-adjacent supporters. But: participates in parliamentary democracy, accepts electoral results.
D Fairness to Opponents
Labels opponents as "globalists," "gender-ideologues." Uses conspiratorial framing. Anti-Soros rhetoric similar to Fidesz but more extreme.
Opposition coalition (HU)
2022 election NANA Promise Keeping
Never governed together. United opposition lost 2022 election decisively (34.4% vs 54.1%).
Tisza
2024-2026 BNA Promise Keeping
Founded 2024, no governance record. Led by Péter Magyar (former Fidesz insider turned critic). Rapidly gained support reaching 30%+ in polls by 2025.
B Honesty
Magyar leverages insider knowledge to expose Fidesz corruption. Claims generally backed by documents and recordings. Some rhetorical exaggeration typical of opposition.
NA Integrity
Too new to assess. Magyar himself faced questions about past Fidesz connections and marriage to former Justice Minister Varga. No corruption charges.
NA Competence
Founded 2024, governed from May 2026. EP delegation active but sanctioned by EPP. Policy programme published late (Feb 2026, 240 pages). One-man-show criticism: ~30 formal members, centralized leadership. Too early to assess governance outcomes.
B Accountability
Party structure emerging. Magyar dominant figure but building organizational capacity. Participated in EP elections (7 MEPs elected June 2024). Democratic internal structure developing.
B Fairness to Opponents
Criticism of Fidesz generally fact-based (corruption evidence, insider knowledge). Some personal attacks on Orbán but within political norms. No documented false claims about other opposition parties.
