Honesty
Strache Ibiza statements were bragging not policy. FPÖ distanced from Strache quickly. No systematic false claims documented beyond populist rhetoric.

Accountability

Party defense / context
FPÖ argues the BVT had serious internal problems that justified investigation, that the raid was legally authorized by a prosecutor, and that the court ruling on unlawfulness concerned scope not principle. Kickl maintains the BVT needed reform.

Party defense / context
FPÖ argues Strache and Gudenus acted personally, not on party orders. They were immediately expelled. FPÖ distanced from the individuals and argues the party itself never received illegal money. The video was an illegal recording by political opponents.

- Kickl returned the government formation mandate and called for new elections
- Van der Bellen did not call new elections; ÖVP-SPÖ-NEOS coalition formed instead
- At May 2025 rally, Kickl again announced 'Der Volkskanzler kommt' — recycling unfulfilled promise
